A young friend of mine, Rachel, found a pigeon's nest in the honeysuckle in my garden on the 25th June 2000.
As Rachel is only an occasional visitor, I recorded the progress of the young pigeons and now place this record here on my website for her benefit.

heading (5828 bytes)

new born (184332 bytes)

The pictures were taken at four day intervals.

They didn't seem to mind me taking photographs.

growing (127037 bytes)

Impossible to tell how many and even though they look furry they were, in fact, very bald!

Four days later - with feathers
Were there more than two?

bigger (169776 bytes)

My goodness, that was quick - what are they being fed on?
There are just the two it seems.

and bigger (179332 bytes)

Growing up fast!

Soon be gone . . .

perching (191724 bytes)

Gone from the nest, but not yet independent.

feeding (139408 bytes)

Sitting on the trellis in front of the honeysuckle.

Feeding time.

on guard (715605 bytes)

This is Mum on guard in front of the plum tree
where they are hiding - or is she just taking a rest?

Today is the 24th July, and the young pigeons are still in the garden, cuddled together, still being fed but getting taller and thinner every day.
